His secret; get innovation into the companies culture! Kees is well-known within the world airport industry. He is a.o. Chairman of the IT committee of the ACI (Airport Counsel International).
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is often seen as a roll model for other big international Airports (such as Las Vegas, New York (T4) and Buenos Aires)*. Especially the innovation and IT enablement is highly recognized.
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol recently have been granted the TIMMIES by CIO Magazine as Most Innovative Company.

Plenary Panel Discussion: “Messages from the Millennials!”
“I’ll probably not work for you if I cannot collaborate using my favorite technology and devices”
Millennial generation students and employees (those aged 14 to 27) expect to use their own technology and mobile devices for work and are increasingly choosing their place of employment based on how accommodating companies are to their
personal technology preferences. In addition, more than half of Millennials are either unaware of their companies’ information technology policies or are not inclined to follow them. These are a few outcomes of the latest Accenture survey, which queried 5,595 employees and students, ages 14-27, in 13 countries. No other company has performed such an in-depth and broad study as this. The study found an increasing demand for high-tech devices to connect with colleagues, peers, friends and family, rather than face-to-face contact. There is a growing disconnect between the technologies that companies provide their workforce and the way young workers actually want to use technology for collaboration in the workplace.
Survey highlight by Marc. A. Schuuring, Executive partner Accenture. Panel: International and National guests a.o. Dr. Elizabeth van Geerestein Phd MBA; CEO Papillon & Partners and Adjunct Professor Rotterdam School of Management Erasmus University, Chris Potts; Corporate IT Strategist, CIO futurist and author of the bestseller fruITion, Chris Parker; Sr. VP & CIO LeasePlan Corporation and Steve Hobbs, Innovation Manager DSM.

DETAILS SESSIONS:

Program: 13:45 – 15:00 hours

BREAK OUT SESSIONS I
PEER / THEME SESSIONS

# 1. “A chronic case of operational excellence – Innovation as cure, and as a catalyst for change”.
The relentless pursuit of IT cost reduction has created a monster. An IT organization that is suffocating from stability, repeatability and efficiency. An organization that is not in rhythm with the business. By switching focus to innovation, we define business value as the goal, and inspire a totally new dynamic in our organization. And maybe our customers want to do business with the IT department again. DSM IT is in the process of transforming itself into a value-driven organization and innovation is a catalyst for this change. DSM IT’s innovation strategy will be presented and some early learning pains and dilemmas shared.
Speaker: Steve Hobbs, Innovation Manager, DSM.

# 2. “Business processes simplified by IT – The new approach with Rules Engine by IND”.
The Dutch Immigration- and Naturalization Service (IND) will explain how they simplified their primary process by making use of standard packages combined with a ‘rules engine’. The adjustment of laws and regulations within the primary business processes is much simplified and a great deal more flexible. The result of this revolutionary approach is a very flexible standardized primary process automation which leads to great quality improvements and cost savings in the primary processes. In this Expert session the experiences of the IND and their approach to this revolutionary implementation are explained.
Speaker: Simone Dobbelaar, CIO office, IND
Host: Roelof Douwstra, Partner, Quint Wellington Redwood

EXPERT SESSIONS

# 3. “Beyond the hype of WAN Optimization: WAN GOVERNANCE”.
After budget cuts during the global recession, many enterprises in 2010 will operate with IT spending at 2005 budget levels. Given the dependence on wide area networks for operational performance and enterprise growth, WAN Governance, a strategic and business-driven approach to network management within IT Governance, will become even more critical for executives to achieve business goals.
Speaker: Reza Mahdavi, President Ipanema Technologies
Host: Ferran van den Berg, Sales Manager Ipanema Netherlands

# 4. “Commitment and the power of collaboration in transformation programmes”.
The success of changes depends largely on the commitment of employees in organizations. It is one of the four key success factors, according to a recent McKinsey study. But how do you create that level of commitment? Ans van Dalen, Head Transformation Programme ING Operations &IT Banking, will share their vision and experience in the ING programme, with a focus on engaging the organization and ‘collaboration’.
Speaker: Ans van Dalen, Head Transformation Programme ING Ops&IT Banking.
Host: Geke Rosier & Anita van den Hoek, Managing Partners ForceFive.

# 5. “How to improve your IT organisation to become more innovative?”.
In order to contribute to cost control and efficiency targets, IT organisations have reduced their staff, made their IT processes more lean and mean, outsourced IT commodities, and consolidated their application portfolio. Alas in many cases, this has also led to short term decisions reducing the power of IT to contribute to business innovation and strategic thinking. EquaTerra will demonstrate through a number of cases, that a proper sizing of your IT organisation is crucial for an optimal contribution to the business. We will show that IT is not only about delivering services but also about strategy, knowing the demand, and combining business process improvement with IT.
Speaker: Gerard M. Wijers, managing director Governance & Sourcing Management practice EquaTerra.
Host: John Beekman, Principal Consultant EquaTerra.

ROUNDTABLE SESSIONS (ON INVITATION ONLY!)

# 6. “Information as Asset, but who should ‘invest’?”.
Most organizations understand that information is key to make the right decisions and outperform the competition. However, the organizational structure of Information Management often remains behind. Is it the IT department that is responsible for this? Or should the business invest in an Information Management department? Join the discussion on Information Management and the role that IT should have!
Host: Marc Mulder, Country Manager IBM Cognos Software.

# 7. “The Right ICT Infrastructure is the Foundation for Business Innovation”.
Innovation is not per definition ICT, but ICT offers the business the foundation for other departments, stakeholders to innovate. During this exclusive Roundtable discussion will be around how your company can make the difference by the right ICT and how to create more space for innovation. New ICT solutions have to contribute to the growth of the company. ICT is always confronted with 'legacy' systems that limits (business)innovation, but are crucial for the 'day to day' operation. 70% of the IT budget is spend in existing IT and keep your equipment in operation. Only 30% of ICT budget is used to invest in innovation of your company and business processes. Is this the right split? Should it not be 50/50? ICT is the foundation of (business) innovation, but is often seen as cost. The agenda of the company determines how & why ICT is deployed. Therefore growth of baseline revenue and cost savings are key for (business)innovation with ICT. New ICT solutions offers the business case in terms of flexibility, agility, cost savings, faster decision process etc. So what's the issue for (business)innovation?
Speaker: tbc
Hosts: Erik Swart, Country Manager Tandberg & Fedor Hoevenaars, Sales Director Verizon Business.

# 8. “Information Logistics, distribute information to the knowledge worker efficiently to enhance productivity”.
The support knowledge workers get from information environments is supply oriented in stead of demand driven. Therefore they are either searching for the right information or juggling with an overload of information instead of contributing to the process and interacting with the customer and his needs. In this interactive round table we would like to discuss the steps companies should take to enhance productivity of knowledge workers.
Speaker: Dr. Guus Pijpers, Associate Professor of Information Behaviour at TiasNimbas Business School, Tilburg.
Host: Patrick Roelandt, Director Ricoh Business Solutions.

Program: 15:30 – 16:45 hours

BREAK OUT SESSIONS II
PEER / THEME SESSIONS

# 9. “Innovation: Asking for Forgiveness, not Permission”.
Innovation is fundamental to achieve sustainable succeed in today’s business environment, and it will only get worse - you will have to innovate more often with greater results in order to survive. The gap between the 'grey hair' in the Board room with the techno-super-savvy starters isn't helping - how does a CIO foster innovation when the audience doesn't 'get' it and we don't 'get' what the users of tomorrow are expecting?
Speaker: Chris Parker, SVP & CIO, LeasePlan Corporation.

#10. "The impact of cloud computing".
Over the past few years the data centre has been transforming from a business-centred physical location into a highly integrated and virtualised environment, including Unified Computing and Virtual Storage. Cloud computing becomes available for everyone by transforming datacenters into a dramatically simplified cloud infrastructure and enabling the next generation of flexible, reliable IT services. This allowed CIO’s to scale their organization’s resources, information and most importantly their business much more effectively. But these benefits have forced CIO’s to focus more closely on operational expenses than before. With Cloud computing evoluating from hype to trend companies and espcially CIOs need to define their strategy with respect to services from the cloud. This session will address a joint vision for cloud computing within the enterprise and beyond. It will give you answers to crucial questions like: what are the considerations of the CIO with respect to the 'Cloud' strategy, what are the pro's and con's, what impact do 'cloud'-services have on the management and control of IT (-services), what are the implications for security, information/data security and compliance & regulations, what can virtualisation and cloud computing mean for my organization, how to realize business alignment, how to maximize benefits and what are the steps to take and the challenges to expect.
Speakers: Alfred de Jong, Principal Consultant / Practice Leader Architecture & Business Innovation Quint Wellington Redwood & Wessel Blom, Senior Manager Business Consultancy Verizon Business.

EXPERT SESSIONS

Lately the words Lean and IT are often used in one sentence. How about your IT organisation? Is there still room for performance improvement? If yes, join this interactive session in which we take stock of real life performance challenges/opportunities you and your IT colleagues are facing and we explore whether Lean could be a suitable way for you to tackle those. In addition we will explore a number of scenarios on how you can get started with Lean in your organisation.
